Most schools publish one number with the word “from” in front of it. That number is usually the course by itself, with no room, no food, and none of what you will actually spend between deciding to go and coming home qualified.
We run four campuses in two countries, so we can do something most people writing about this cannot. Below is every price we charge, side by side, including the peak-season rates most schools keep in a booking form. Then the costs that are not ours.

If you want the 200-hour teaching qualification for the least money: $500 in Goa, course-only, arranging your own room in Arambol. With a room and all meals included: $699 dorm or $850 shared room in Goa, or $950 shared in Rishikesh.
All prices in USD. Residential tiers are all-inclusive for the course duration unless marked course-only. Residential packages include tuition, materials, your room at the tier shown, and meals.

On the Ubud 200-hour, the two shared-female tiers are distinct rooms: a 6-share female room at $1,299 and a 4-share female room at $1,399. Twin shared is $1,699; private is $2,299.
Inside a school, price is the room — not the teaching. The Goa 200-hour runs $500 to $1,250. Same course, same teachers, same 200 hours, same certificate, same Yoga Alliance registration. Every dollar of the difference is where you sleep. Someone paying $1,250 is not getting a better training than someone paying $500. That is true at most residential schools and almost none of them say it.
India is roughly half of Bali. Our Goa 200-hour starts at $500 course-only; Klungkung starts at $950 for the same thing, and the cheapest Bali option with a room on the 200-hour is $1,299 in Ubud against $850 shared room in Goa. Bali costs more because Bali costs more — land, food, wages. It is not a better course. If the qualification is what you are buying and the location is incidental, train in India.
Ubud’s headline is lower than Klungkung’s, and Klungkung is still the cheaper campus at comparable rooms. Ubud’s $1,299 is a 6-share female room. Klungkung’s $1,450 is a shared cottage. Compare like with like — twin against shared cottage, private against private — and Klungkung comes in cheaper. Ubud only looks cheaper because it offers bunk tiers that Klungkung does not. The 500-hour is about continuity, not a big discount. In Rishikesh, $2,250 against $950 + $1,250 = $2,200 taken separately — so the combined programme is $50 more, and buys you one continuous stay instead of two trips. In Klungkung it is $3,950 against $1,450 + $2,300 = $3,750. Do the 500-hour for the unbroken month-plus of training, not the arithmetic.
This is the part that catches people out, and we would rather you heard it here than at checkout.
December and January are peak season in Goa, and several things change:

In December and January the 200-hour still runs course-only, dorm, and cottages — but the mid room tiers are not offered. If you want a private room rather than a cottage in Goa, those two months are the wrong window. The January intake also often starts on the 5th rather than the 1st — confirm on the 200-hour booking table.
Why: December and January are the weeks around New Year when North Goa is full and accommodation costs us more. Rishikesh, Klungkung and Ubud hold one price all year.
What to do about it: if your dates are flexible and money matters, come to Goa in February, March or November instead. Yes, Goa’s 20% on the 100/200/500 and 25% on the 300-hour is deliberate — it matches the live booking tables.
Refunds: full refund 30 or more days before the start date. Inside 30 days the deposit is not refundable. One free date change up to 7 days before, for a genuine reason. Same terms across campuses; always confirm on the course page you book.
This is what turns a $950 course into a real trip budget. None of it is unique to us — it applies wherever you train.
India. Most nationalities need an e-Tourist visa, applied for online before travelling. Current published fees for US nationals and several other countries: $25 for 30 days (July to March), $10 for 30 days (April to June), $40 for one year, $80 for five years. Fees vary by nationality, so check your own before budgeting. A 30-day visa does not comfortably cover a 25-day course plus travel either side — most students on a 200-hour take the one-year option for $40, which costs $15 more and removes the problem entirely.
Apply only through the official portal, indianvisaonline.gov.in. There are many paid intermediaries charging several times the government fee for the same thing.
Indonesia. For most eligible nationalities, a month-long Bali course fits a B1 Visa on Arrival / e-VOA: about IDR 500,000 (~$32–$35) for 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days (another ~IDR 500,000) at an immigration office. A 20–23 day 200-hour usually fits the first 30 days if you do not add long side trips; a 500-hour will need the extension or a longer visa category. Confirm nationality eligibility and pay only on evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Bali also charges a separate tourist levy (~IDR 150,000) via the official Love Bali portal — that is not the visa.

Registering as an RYT with Yoga Alliance is a separate application with a separate fee, paid by you, after you graduate — plus an annual renewal to keep the credential active. No school’s course fee covers it, ours included.
As of the Yoga Alliance help centre: $50 one-time application fee + $65 first-year membership = $115 to register; then $65/year to renew. Confirm on yogaalliance.org the day you apply — fees change.

No. Within a school the difference is the room. Across schools it mostly reflects the country and what is included. Compare contact hours, group size and named teachers instead.
Because accommodation in North Goa costs us more over New Year. The course is identical. Come in February or November and the same room is often $150–$550 cheaper.
The deposit holds your place and the balance is due before you start. We do not currently offer a longer multi-month instalment plan beyond that deposit/balance split.
If you are confident finding a room in Arambol or Klungkung and you want the lowest possible cost, yes. You save hundreds against the cheapest room tier. You also give up living with your cohort — the thing most residential students say they valued.
They change. Everything on this page is dated 15 September 2026, and we review it when course pages change. Your price is fixed when your deposit is paid.
Your room at the tier you chose (unless course-only), meals on teaching days, all classes, materials and the certificate. Bali residential packages also include one-way DPS airport pickup and one Balinese massage. Goa and Rishikesh do not include airport transfer in the fee — budget separately. Flights, visa, insurance and town spending are never included.
